About
Hi, I’m Kenya — a sourdough lover and mum of two.
My sourdough journey started about five years ago thanks to my mother-in-law, Ann. Ann is one of those people who makes absolutely everything from scratch, and somehow it all turns out amazing. One morning she baked a fresh sourdough loaf for breakfast and served it with her homemade jam. One bite in and I remember thinking, how can bread taste this good?! It was honestly unlike anything I’d ever eaten.
Of course, I had to learn how to make it myself. That very weekend, Ann and I baked a loaf together, and from that moment on, I was completely hooked. I went home obsessed — reading, baking, experimenting — and I’ve never really stopped since.
At first, I was just baking for my family. Then I started sharing loaves with friends and neighbours… and before I knew it, I was baking up to 24 sourdough loaves a week! It was such a special time — it taught me consistency, helped me fine-tune my technique, and gave me so much joy being able to share something I love with others.
After welcoming my second baby, I decided to slow things down a little. I stepped away from big weekly bakes to focus on my family and spend time perfecting my own sourdough recipe at home.
When the opportunity came up to start teaching sourdough, I just couldn’t say no. The Golden Grains was already the name I baked and sold my bread under, and now it’s growing into something even more special. Through this website and my courses, I’m sharing my recipes, tips, and all the little sourdough tricks I’ve learned along the way — with the goal of empowering you with the confidence and know-how to bake truly incredible bread at home.
I’m so glad you’re here 🤍
